Since taking charge as the MLA of Adoni, I have consistently raised the issue of upgrading the Adoni Mother and Child Hospital from 50 beds to 100 beds. Despite repeated appeals in the Assembly, to the Minister, and even to the Chief Minister, the proposal is yet to be acted upon.
Here’s why this upgrade is critical:
- In Adoni, 683 deliveries are taking place annually in a 50-bed hospital, while in Emmiganur, a 100-bed hospital handles only 392 deliveries.
- Major surgeries in Adoni total 237 compared to just 85 in Emmiganur.
These figures clearly show the urgent demand and pressure on the existing facility in Adoni.
The need is four times higher, yet we continue to operate with half the capacity. This is not just a health infrastructure issue — it is a matter of life and death for mothers and newborns.
We have already submitted proposals. I urge the DMHO, District Collector, and Health Minister to take immediate action. Time is critical in emergencies — a delay can cost lives.
