At a recent round table meeting in Vijayawada, BJP MLA Dr. Bharathi Saradhi delivered a powerful address to the leaders and representatives of various Denotified and Nomadic Tribes (DNTs). As an MLA from the DNT community himself, Dr. Saradhi spoke with passion about the challenges and aspirations of these marginalized groups.
He emphasized that the BJP government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has already taken a historic step by granting constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC). This gives the BC and DNT communities a powerful tool to fight discrimination and demand their rights, on par with the SC/ST commissions.
Dr. Saradhi made a firm commitment to the people of Andhra Pradesh. He promised to:
- Champion Special Reservations: Vigorously pursue the demand for special reservations for DNTs within the state and bring the issue directly to the Chief Minister.
- Be a Representative in the Assembly: Act as a strong voice for all DNT communities in the legislative assembly, ensuring their problems are heard and debated. He invited community members to contact him directly for help with any administrative issues.
- Promote Political Unity: Urged the various tribes to unite under the single banner of DNTs to become a formidable political force and fight for the representation they deserve at all levels of government.
He also announced a major state-level DNT event on August 30th, calling on all communities to attend and make their voices heard. Dr. Saradhi assured that he would personally take up the cause of communities seeking Central OBC status.
