Recently, a video went viral alleging that I insulted a Dalit sarpanch by not allowing him on stage during a village visit in Adoni. I want to clearly state that there was no intention to insult anyone.
The incident occurred during a speech near a temple area due to a mic issue. The sarpanch, who had recently joined BJP from YSRCP, was standing far away. I repeatedly called him to come closer and join us. Due to his own concerns, including his faith and recent political shift, he hesitated.
A misunderstanding arose when someone near me mentioned he was a Christian, and another person said “SC”. These comments were picked up by the mic. Though not from my side, I still publicly apologized for the confusion and took full responsibility.
Unfortunately, this was politicized and spread deliberately to create division. But I strongly believe Dalits supported our alliance in the 2024 elections, and will continue to stand with us.
