Recent heavy rains have caused serious waterlogging issues in Kowdalpet, Adoni, with even light showers leading to water entering homes. Today, we inspected the main drain where all smaller drains merge. Despite its depth of six to seven feet, silt buildup has reduced its capacity, worsening the situation.
We have instructed municipal staff to deploy JCBs immediately to clear the drains. Around 380 municipal workers are already on duty, and if needed, an additional 100–150 daily wage workers will join to ensure water does not enter homes. Our goal is to respond within 30 minutes whenever flooding is reported.
This is part of a city-wide plan covering 15 low-lying areas to prevent rainwater from causing damage during this monsoon. The engineering department will also work on long-term solutions to improve drainage systems.
