The Indian government recently made changes to the Waqf Act to prevent misuse of Waqf properties. Waqf properties are lands or assets donated for religious or charitable purposes, mainly to help poor Muslims and maintain mosques. Earlier, due to weak rules, some people misused the law by claiming private lands as Waqf property without proof, causing hardship to many families. The new amendments aim to ensure accountability, protect genuine Waqf properties, and treat all citizens equally under the law. This is not against Muslims, but to bring fairness and transparency.
